APEX PUBLISHING ANNOUNCES CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE URBAN KIND, A NEW SF ANTHOLOGY EDITED BY JENNIFER BROZEK

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[Lexington, Kentucky] – Apex Publishing announced today the acquisition of a new anthology edited by Jennifer Brozek, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE URBAN KIND. Scheduled for release in late spring 2010, the collection combines the dark allure of urban legends with the high stakes of alien encounters, promising some of the best short stories modern science fiction has to offer.

In addition to the select group of established and emerging authors contributing to the collection, the winning story and runner-up from the Apex Magazine Annual Halloween Contest will be included in the anthology. The list of contributing authors will be announced in October 2009. Updates can be found on the Apex Publishing website (www.apexbookcompany.com) as they are released.

JENNIFER BROZEK (http://jennifer-brozek.livejournal.com), the creator and co-editor of the Grants Pass anthology (August 2009, Morrigan Books), is a freelance author for many RPG companies, including Margaret Weis Productions, Rogue Games and Catalyst Game Labs. Her contributions to RPG sourcebooks include Dragonlance, Castlemourn, Colonial Gothic, Shadowrun, and Serenity. She has also co-authored three books, including Dragonvarld Adventures with Margaret Weis. She is published in several anthologies and is the creator and editor of the semiprozine The Edge of Propinquity (www.edgeofpropinquity.net). When she is not writing her heart out, she is gallivanting around the Pacific Northwest in its wonderfully mercurial weather.
