What is Covert Ops?

This is the new RPG book I am working on for Savage Mojo. This RPG uses Savage Worlds rules.

What Is Covert Ops?
We've all heard about the monsters of legend - vampires, werewolves, swamp things, Frankenstein creations and the like. Unfortunately for us, the monsters are very real. They have very real plans that mean horrific things to mankind, if they’re not stopped.

That is where you come in.

Who thwarts the monsters and their diabolical plans? Covert Ops, that's who. An international unit of agents who know the creatures of the dark and have all the latest technological wonders for stopping them going bump in the night. The men and women of Covert Ops are the spies, the expert assassins, the anonymous heroes of the world. We’ll show you how to make a Covert Ops field agent, set up a team, and equip it. Then we’ll show your GM some of the dastardly plans of the enemy, some of the secrets of the supernatural, and a plot worthy of the best spy thrillers.

Covert Ops is always looking for a few good men and women to fight the good fight. The death toll is high but the benefits are killer while you're saving the world.

Back Cover Text
It’s 1998 and monsters don't exist. They’re the stuff of legend and myth, right? Wrong. This world is filled with supernatural creatures just itching to enslave humanity or wipe it off the face of the Earth.

Only the world’s finest agents stand between the supernatural horror and an unsuspecting public. Outfitted with the best technology and tradecraft, it's time to get to work.

Wear the tuxedo, load the Walther PPK, and save the world!

Inside you’ll find all you need to create characters in this unique Covert Ops setting, a wealth of background information, gadgets and espionage equipment, a plot point campaign, 20 Savage Tales, and stats for all manner of new NPCs, government organizations, evil masterminds and creatures of legend to use as allies and adversaries.

Savage Worlds is the Deadlands system, is it not?

sort of. Savage worlds evolved out of deadlands classic and the different things tried with it. Since savagae worlds release a new version of deadlands has been released using the savage worlds rules. So to be fair the answer is yes no matter how you look at it, but the details might be important to someone sometime....

*nod* Right. This isn't the d20 Deadlands version?

Because as clunky as the original was, I really really liked it.

savage worlds is a streamlined version of deadlands classic, you can get the testdrive rules free from pinnacle: http://peginc.com/downloads.html - not that the core rulebook "savage worlds: explorers edition" is expensive to pick up. No d20 system stuff here, no sir.

Reminds me of the days Top Secret SI and Call of Ctuthlu Now. Also so sounds like something that is up my alley!

Sounds great. I will make sure the club gets a copy when it comes out.

I was wondering if you ever attend MisCon? http://www.miscon.org/

I have never gone to MisCon. Never been invited as a pro-guest. Honestly, I would probably have to be invited as a GoH to go due to finance considerations.

I just got off the phone with MisCon's Game Czar, Stewart Fleming. He will be at RadCon next week. I told him you would be a great GoH. It's a big plus that you are from the NW. He said he would speak with you at RadCon.

I wish I could be there but the folks I was traveling with had to cancel. Maybe next year.
